Description

Running from Miracles is a story of Hope. Through the eyes of Shawn, his parents and others, you will see that even when a person doesn’t see God in his or her life, He is there. Despite the times when His Presence seemed veiled by painful or uncertain circumstances, God was ever present in Shawn and his parents’ lives. Even when Shawn was doing his best to run from God, God proved that He is ever present, faithful and consistent in his life. In a time of brokenness, of pain and final surrender, He is there just waiting for us. It is the author’s desire that, just as he did and still does, you will use the Reflections and Prayers in Shawn’s story and apply the lessons learned to your own life

Wow! I have known Shawn Decker for over 15 years! Shawn has been there for me at times in life when I really needed someone and really down and out. And, He’s also been with me on the mountain tops of life too! His bold, unwavering faith and sometimes brutal honesty shows and demonstrates the integrity of Shawn. He is and has been one of my best friends, mentors, and even coach over the years. His wisdom, knowledge and passion for helping others and serving God is amazing and contagious! When I first started reading Running from Miracles, I thought that being his friend for all of these years that I knew Shawn. But, after reading Running from Miracles, you get to know Shawn on a much more personal, intimate level than ever before! The book was cleverly written and starts with his birth and is detailed with stories from his parents, as well as Shawn, and shares real-life struggles that men and Shawn often struggle and have to deal with. From relationships, to finances he gives example after example of what God can do through you when you turn to him. He provides even more background to his life, insight, and oftentimes humorous, yet humble upbringings. It’s quite obvious that God had his hand on Shawn from a very young age. As you read his book you will see that he has had to overcome many, many things in life. Shawn goes onto share many of his life experiences, some good and some bad, and offers words of wisdom. You will find lessons learned from his life and prayers to help you with situations that you may be dealing with today.

    Life Experiences
Shawn openly and humbly shares raw, completely transparent moments about his personal life that many people might be ashamed of. It’s truly amazing that he would do this because he is willing to show and share his past weaknesses, being completely vulnerable to reach and help others through his experiences. From having to overcome sins and issues like alcohol, drugs, depression, pornography, divorce, poverty, and even sexual identity. Shawn unashamedly puts everything on the line and out in the open in his book…So much, that I am convinced that he did so to simply help and relate to you, the reader. No matter what or where you may be in life and your walk in life or with God, this book is full of inspiration! It may just have the answer that you’ve been so desperately looking for.

So, no matter what you are facing in life, know that this book will inspire you, challenge you, and motivate you to be and become a better person. Who Shawn is today is a true testament of the love, grace, and mercy of God. Life isn’t always easy nor fair and we as humans don’t always make the best of decisions, however, Shawn illustrates and is a living testament of what God can do in someone’s life. This book can and will relate to so many people of all races, backgrounds, and ages.

    Life lessons
One of my favorite lessons that Shawn shares from his book and what I feel is one of the most important lessons and prayers.

    A Lesson Learned
Sometimes in our lives, we go through a really bad season. Not because it is God’s will, but because of our bad habits. Even still, God still provided his protection, grace, and mercy, even though I didn’t really see it.

    Prayer
Father, I don’t know why I am going through this particular season in my life. But I ask you to show me your grace, protection, mercy, and wisdom. Teach me your will through your word. Give me the grace to know the things I can’t change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. (Serenity Prayer).

I really enjoyed reading “ running from miracles”. The book taught me to not rely so much on others but more independence and watch to see what GOD does and can do

    Wow! Where to begin?

The book is very well written and easy to read and follow. The chapters are laid out to where you can do a chapter a day or you can read ahead at your own pace.

The writing style makes you feel like you are write there with Shawn, sharing the experiences. It’s very easy to visualize and follow exactly what’s going on at any given time.

Saving the best for last, the subject matter. Everyone who has gone through anything difficult can find something relatable. Seeing Shawn openly discuss issues we all struggle with makes you feel motivated to tackle your own issues. The fact that it can all be related to the word God makes it a must read for everyone. The prayers at the end of every chapter are perfect for anyone going through a similar situation wanting to reach out to God.
